Project Description

The Allegheny County Economic Development and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission wanted to explore the revitalization potential for the West Busway and adjacent communities to further support public transportation solutions in the region. The West Busway provides express bus service from the Borough of Carnegie into downtown Pittsburgh. The busway is approximately five miles long and includes five exclusive BRT stations. The feasibility for redevelopment at each station was analyzed and two were selected for further study.

Mark Leese’s Role

Mark provided the urban design component, worked with the community to develop future redevelopment alternatives, co-facilitated the public and stakeholder meetings, and produced the plan graphics.
